Itinerary

Day 1 - Hamburg / Embarkation
Board your luxury river vessel, the MV Dresden. Before sailing, you can step off and explore the charming cafes and shops of Hamburg overlooking Alster Lake.

Day 2 - Tangermunde
Today’s escorted excursion reveals the historic wealth of this thousand-year-old Hanseatic port graced with handsome Gothic structures and traditional German homes with wonderfully detailed doors. Your tour includes St. Stephen’s Cathedral, famed for its ornately carved interiors. Meals B,L,D

Day 3 - Magdeburg
Begin your sightseeing in the historic Old Market and see the famous 750-year-old Magdeburg Rider statue. You’ll pass by an 11th century Romanesque monastery before an in-depth tour of the 13th century Magdeburg Cathedral. Meals B,L,D

Day 4 - Wittenberg
Today’s excursion follows in the footsteps of Martin Luther, the Protestant Reformer who lived here in the 16th century. Visit a museum dedicated to his life and the Church where Martin Luther is said to have posted his 95 Theses. Meals B,L,D

Day 5 - Meissen
Visit the Meissen Porcelain workshop and see amazing pieces crafted over the past 300 years. You’ll also stop at the Gothic cathedral and Albrecht Castle for sweeping views of the city and surrounding vineyards. Meals B,L,D

Day 6 - Dresden & Pillnitz Palace
Your sightseeing begins with great views of three castles set on a hillside above the Elbe Valley. A walking tour showcases the Semper Opera House and the Zwinger Palace. At the Royal Mews, you’ll admire the Procession of Princes, made from 24,000 tiles of Meissen Porcelain! After lunch onboard, you’ll visit the castle complex of Pillnitz, built in the 18th century with flourishes of a Chinese pagoda. Meals B,L,D

Day 7 - Bad Schandau / Excursion to Prague
Experience one of the loveliest cities in Europe with a full-day excursion to Prague. You’ll visit St. Vitus Cathedral and stroll across Charles Bridge to Old Town to see the famous Astronomical Clock. Return to your ship in time for dinner. Meals B,L,D

Day 8 - Dresden / Prague
Disembark in Dresden for a morning transfer to Prague, Goethe’s “jewel in the crown of the world”. After check-in at your deluxe hotel, within a stroll from Charles Bridge, the day is yours to explore.

Day 11 - Vienna
Today, begin on Ringstrasse Boulevard and see the glorious monuments of the Habsburg Empire as you tour through the historic heart of Vienna. There is time to see the Cathedral, the Royal Spanish Riding School, and Hofburg Palace before your afternoon visit to Schönbrunn Palace, former residence of the Habsburg Emperors. Meals B,L,D

Day 12 - Esztergom / The Danube Bend & Budapest
At the Danube Bend sits charming Esztergom, and your tour explores the imposing Basilica, the largest in the country. In the late afternoon, your ship will arrive in Budapest, one of the most beautiful cities along the Danube. Meals B,L,D

Day 13 - Budapest
Join our morning tour of the twin cities of Buda & Pest. You’ll visit Heroes’ Square, Danube embankments and the Castle Hill with St. Mathias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion offering great views of the Hungarian capital. Meals B,L,D

Day 14 - Bratislava
Slovakia’s capital offers a wealth of well-preserved architecture. You tour the historic Old Town and visit the Archbishop’s Residence where you’ll see a collection of 17th century Gobelins (tapestries)! Meals B,L,D

The Benedictine Abbey of Melk is one of the loveliest Baroque structures in Europe – with a commanding location atop a 180-foot promontory overlooking the Wachau Valley.
