Inclusive shore excursions take in seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the historic districts of Budapest, Vienna, and Bamberg; the medieval landscapes of the Danube’s Wachau Valley and the Rhine Valley; plus Schönbrunn Palace and Köln Cathedral. Take a canal boat cruise in Amsterdam, see paintings by the Dutch Masters, and attend an Imperial Evening featuring dinner and Viennese music in Vienna.

Cruise price per person, based on double occupancy, includes cruise fare, most meals, port charges, wine with dinner aboard ship, shore excursions, and gratuities to Tauck Directors, Tauck Cruise Director, ship staff, local guides & drivers, as well as on all included meals.

International Airfare is additional. Call Tauck for special rates on international air, in coach or business, for travel originating in the United States (subject to availability).

Itinerary Changes – Although not expected, Tauck reserves the right to alter the sequence of ports or omit or substitute scheduled ports or attractions at any time without prior notice. North and south itineraries are similar; ask at booking for the Amsterdam to Budapest itinerary. Museums and attractions may be subject to closure due to state, local, or religious holidays. Note: This cruise includes a fair amount of walking in each city.

Itinerary

1. Arrive Amsterdam
Tour begins: 4:00 PM, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Welcome to Amsterdam! Transfers are included from Schiphol Airport to the ship. Embarkation begins anytime after 4:00 PM aboard MS Swiss Emerald or MS Swiss Sapphire. Enjoy dinner aboard the riverboat this evening. Meals D

2. Discover Amsterdam
See acclaimed works by Rembrandt and other Dutch Masters at the famed Rijksmuseum. Explore Amsterdam’s network of historic 17th-century canals, amidst a blend of architectural styles dating back to medieval times, by canal boat for a truly unique view of the city. Meals BLD

3. Historic Treasures of Köln
Cruise the Rhine River to Köln (Cologne), where a guided walking tour includes mighty Kölner Dom, one of Europe’s greatest Gothic cathedrals. Spend the afternoon exploring the Hohe Strasse pedestrian area. Meals BLD

4. Lorelei Valley / Rüdesheim
In Koblenz this morning, choose a walking tour of the Old Town or a visit to 13th-century Marksburg Castle
for a true picture of life in a medieval castle. Relax as you cruise through the scenic Lorelei Valley to Rüdesheim for a winery visit and a wine tasting before dinner. Meals BLD

5. Miltenberg / Cruise the Main
Wind your way along the Main to the medieval walled town of Miltenberg, whose roots date back to Roman times. View the town’s hilltop castle, half-timbered houses and charming marketplace. Continue through lush valleys and verdant vineyards along the river to Worth. Meals BLD

6. Würzburg / Rothenburg
A day of choice awaits – explore Würzburg, seeing the 18th-century Residenz and the ornate Alte Mainbrücke, or view Rothenburg’s Gothic cathedrals and gabled houses. Meals BLD

7. Explore Medieval Bamberg
Enjoy cruising on the Main before journeying to the hilltop town of Bamberg, home to a magnificent 13th-century cathedral, for a walking tour and time at leisure. Meals BLD

8. Main-Danube Canal / Nürnberg
Spend a morning cruising the Main-Danube Canal, which fulfilled a centuries-old dream of linking the North Sea with the Black Sea; learn about the canal’s history during your transit of its 16 locks that lift it 800 feet through the mountains. 15. Journey Home
Tour ends: Budapest, Hungary. Disembark this morning; a transfer from the ship to Budapest’s Ferihegy Airport is included. You should allow a minimum of 21/2 hours for check-in. Meals B
