Meet in Paris for transfer to 'Renaissance,' moored in Montargis. After a lovely champagne reception, enjoy a delectable dinner in the elegant dining room and an evening cruise through the town, known as the "Venice of the Gâtinais" for its network of canals.
Visit Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, the setting for the film The Man in the Iron Mask. The exquisite gardens have been fully restored to their original beauty. Your afternoon cruise through the Loire countryside to Montbouy offers excellent walking and cycling opportunities.
Embark on an excursion to the medieval hilltop town of Château-Landon. After a private guided walking tour to see the 11th-century Saint Séverin Abbey, enjoy a tasting of Loire wines. Then relax on a gentle afternoon cruise to Rogny-les-SeptÉcluses with its unique staircase of seven locks built during the reign of Henry IV. Tonight, enjoy a special dinner ashore at the Auberge les Templiers.
After a leisurely breakfast, visit the magnificent Château de la Bussière, a privately owned, moat-encircled castle. Though built in the 11th century, it was greatly modernized 600 years later. The extensive parkland was designed by landscape architect André Le Nôtre, and the family's kitchen garden is beautifully edged with boxwood. Return to the barge for another gourmet dinner this evening.
Today, 'Renaissance' cruises to Briare with its magical aqueduct across the River Loire. Still one of the longest in the world, the aqueduct was completed in the late 19th century by Gustave Eiffel. After lunch, visit Gien where high-quality French earthenware is produced.
This morning, wander Briare's market stalls, which sell everything from vegetables, fruit and cheese to French fashions. After lunch, visit the charming hilltop village of Sancerre, surrounded by the vineyards of the Val de Loire. The narrow, picturesque streets are lined with beautifully preserved buildings. After a tasting at a family-run vineyard, return to 'Renaissance' for a farewell celebration dinner.
After breakfast, transfer back to Paris, where your journey comes to an end.

SCHEDULED DEPARTURES: Hotel sailings listed in this brochure require a minimum number of bookings to operate. Please refer to the individual cruise pages for details.
CRUISE ROUTES: All cruise routes are subject to change without notice. Some waterways may be subject to occasional closures due to drought, storms, floods, canal or lock repairs or other unforeseen circumstances that can make navigation unsafe or impossible. In the unlikely event of such an occurrence, the following conditions may apply: (1) if navigation must be suspended, passengers will continue to be accommodated on the stationary vessel and regular excursions will continue to be made, with cruising to be continued as soon as possible; or (2) we reserve the right to reverse the cruise route, cruise another waterway or transfer passengers to another vessel of similar standard. The Captain's judgment on any action or inaction is considered final.
SPECIAL REQUESTS: Special requests (such as dietary requirements or bedding requests) should be advised at time of booking. Every effort will be made to secure special requests, but some cannot be guaranteed.
PRICES AND ARRANGEMENTS: Quoted program prices include planning, handling and operational charges, and are based on current rates of exchange, tariffs and taxes as of June 2009. A&K reserves the right to increase program prices to cover increased costs, tariffs, fuel surcharges and taxes received after prices are published, and to reflect fluctuations in foreign currency exchange markets. A&K is under no obligation to give breakdown costs for any Canal & River Cruising program.
ABERCROMBIE & KENT USA, LLC also reserves the right to withdraw a program or any part of it to make such alterations in the itinerary or with the program inclusions as it deems necessary or desirable, and to pass on to program members any expenditures or losses caused by delays or events beyond its control.
EARLY ARRIVAL: A&K recommends that you arrive a day or two before the start of your program to allow time to relax and refresh after your journey and to prepare for the start of your program. A&K has negotiated special overnight rates at many hotels contained within this brochure. Please ask for details at time of booking.
BAGGAGE: Program prices include the handling of two pieces of baggage per person. Baggage and personal effects are at owner's risk throughout the travel program. Please check with your chosen airline(s) for other baggage restrictions applicable to international flights.
A&K'S PASSENGER TRAVEL PROTECTION PLAN: Our specially-designed Travel Protection Plan, which provides cancellation coverage, medical coverage and protection against lost or damaged luggage, is not included in the program price and is strongly recommended. Please see page 75 for more details. (An alternative policy is available for barge charters.)
CHILD POLICY: Please refer to individual cruise pages for the child policy applicable to each vessel.
PASSPORTS AND VISAS: Valid passports are required for travel to the destinations in this brochure. Check with your travel agent or A&K for the latest visa requirements. Please note also that passports must be valid for six (6) months after the return of your journey and should also have sufficient blank pages for visas and immigration stamps. A&K cannot be held responsible should you be denied entry to a country due to non-compliance with these requirements. A copy of your valid passport must be submitted to A&K in order to confirm air reservations.

AIR TRANSPORTATION: International airfares are not included in cruise prices. Abercrombie & Kent USA, LLC has special agreements with many carriers and can offer quotations from any gateway. These programs may use the services of any IATA carrier. International air carriers are subject to international air conventions limiting their liability. The limitations of liability are contained on the reverse side of the airline ticket or e-ticket receipt, or on the carrier's web site, and form part of the terms and conditions of this package. The passage contract in use by these companies, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the companies and the purchaser of these travel programs and/or passage.
CLAIMS AND REFUNDS: Refunds are not made for any missed services except for verifiable extenuating circumstances. Please see our Limits on Abercrombie & Kent's Responsibility clause on this page. For verifiable claims to be considered, they must be received in writing within 30 days of the termination of the program and be accompanied by supporting documentation and/or a statement from the local destination company verifying the claim. Any adjustment considered will be based on the actual price of the services involved and not on a per diem basis. Adjustments will not be made for unused sightseeing trips or meals. A&K will not accept any liability for any claims that are not received within 30 days of the termination of a travel program.
PHOTOGRAPHY DURING TRAVEL: Abercrombie & Kent USA, LLC reserves the right to take photographs during the operation of any program or part thereof and to use them for promotional purposes. By booking a program with A&K, program members agree to allow their images to be used in such photographs.
